My last review was from our first visit in February and it was 20 below. Over this past weekend we made this our go to hangout. Super fun place to eat or sip beers in the summer. Friday night we were able to watch the sunset on Gull lake while enjoying my excellent ribeye. Saturday night we sat and listened to live music. Doesn't get much better than that! This is the place to be on a gorgeous day when in the area!!

Great experience at Ernie's over Labor Day weekend! We found Ernie's through Yelp, and for those of you from the Twin Cities, if you like Maynard's or Lord Fletchers, you'll love Ernie's on Gull Lake. When we arrived at 8:00 PM on Friday we overheard someone say that it was an hour wait for food. On a holiday weekend, we weren't shocked but thought our best bet would be to take seat at the bar to get drinks and dinner. Here's the skinny: - Drink selection for a chick and cider snob is AWESOME (Ace Pear, British Crispin in the can among others) - Great service, staff at the bar was amazing - Very quick, was under 15 minutes for our food, even though it was the Friday of Labor Day weekend - Walleye fingers were awesome, definitely get these - Lobster bisque was very good and had chunks of seafood - Walleye sandwich was alriht (skip it and get the fingers and add fried) - Bloody Mary was good (use Mr. Z's) - Greenie is not like Tony Jaro's, skip it After having our meal we walked outside. To our surprise there was live music by Seth Doud playing (and really good live music at that)! We couldn't resist so we grabbed another drink and sat our buns in their adirondack chairs, watched the waves, and soaked in the great live music, company, drink selection, service and food.

Gorgeous view of Gull Lake, fun atmosphere and fantastic service. Oh, and the food's good too. We started with a light appetizer of basil pesto hummus, naan bread and fresh veggies. I order the blackened walleye dinner, which was served over a delicious bed of risotto and a cup of lobster bisque that hit the spot. My husband ordered the fish and chips, but was likely more impressed by the awesome beer selection. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Brainerd / Gull Lake area.

This sure was the happening place to be when we came. Boats pulling up right to dock. Can eat outside or inside. Great food! Service was great. Love how it's right on the lake!!

Fun place ! Went twice on our recent visit . Highly recommend the Walleye fingers - great appetizer .

Ernie's is a boat friendly haven for weary vacationers. Kind staff. Good food. Terrific view from a beautiful dining room. We've been coming to Gull every 4th for 20 years. We've tried all the local favorites and Ernie's tops them all.

Ate their on Sunday eve with NFL on all televisions. Could not talk across table as televisions were very loud. Food was very good and atmosphere was good. I recommend this place for ambience and location.

The food is always GREAT! I've never had a disappointing meal at Ernie's! The place is even better in the summer with their great patio and tiki bar.

What a treat! Great drinks and delicious fresh walleye. The risotto was with cranberries and almonds. The atmosphere is pleasant with wonderful service. Never want to miss an opportunity to dine here.

I love getting a table outside and listening to the small bands on sunday with usually one to three people in them. They start at 1 p.m. so dont miss out. The service is great outside with the full menu and a small bar to sit at and order from. Sand volleyball, baggo, and also plenty of chairs line the shoreline so you will never get bored at Ernies on Gull! Try the bluey and greeny drinks...they both are refreshing and can pack a punch. Ask about the different flavors.

I loved it. We were seated on patio right away, super comfy chairs and umbrellas were a good partial shade on a hot August day. Good bloodys, good service, food came out quickly. Very nice side salad and very good French onion soup as sides, we skipped the fries. I ordered the Walleye sandwich and it was awesome, so lightly pan fried and so yummy on a hot day. The food is a little pricey but it is above average bar food for sure. I would go back today if I didn't live far away!

This is a great "on the lake" place. Fun atmosphere with good food. Fun dining not fine dining. Reuben sandwich was very nourishing.

Great spot! Blackened walleye was very good. We were recommended this place and would definitely come back to Ernie's. Service was great.

Been coming here in the summer for years, ever since it was the cook-your-own-steak place. Went back on a recent trip with extended family and still liked it a lot. We had one server for our group of 17 people (I know, right?) and she did great. Lobster bisque is a must, but everything is good.

I like this place. Went in the winter, so I haven't experienced in full summer/outdoor mode. I'd say 3.5 stars, but bump it up to 4 stars for the area. Much better than similar restaurants in town. Fish tacos were tasty.

Great meal for all. We came off the ice and stayed for a supper. Great food. No complaints and not a word until our plates were cleared. After dinner drink and a Wild game to finish off. Great night!

Ernie's was the best place we ate at during a recent vacation on Gull Lake. The menu is simple but the food is made with care and delicious. The BBQ prime rib sandwich special was excellent as were the house made potato chips (who does that? no need to "upgrade" to fries). The service also warrants special recognition for professionalism, friendliness, and efficiency. We were there on a sweltering afternoon and Emily refilled drinks and waters before we even had to ask. This is a first class operation, don't miss it if you're in the area.

We visited Ernies all three days we were in Brainerd. What a great place! Located on Gull Lake, good food, great drinks, beautiful view, what more can you ask for? Live music on the weekends & a DJ late night. My bf & I had an amazing time tearing up the dance floor & drinking Surly on tap. The UV vodka girls were out one night & whipped up some interesting shots :) YUM! Love Ernies & will go each time @ least once when we go to Brainerd :)

Ernie's is a family favorite. We eat there once a year when we're up at Gull Lake. We typically go a little before 5:00 on a weeknight so its very family friendly. Not sure about later. The kids love boating over and the food is pretty good. The only downside is that they seem (?) to have re-done the menus and bumped the prices up significantly. The walleye fingers are great, but pricey for an appetizer. Bottom line: It's not cheap for what you get, but it's tasty and fun. And the view is great.

I like this place mostly for the view - the outdoor patio is awesome. I try to go early to avoid the frat boy scene that seems likely to erupt at any moment. Service is always hit or miss at these resort area places during peak season, but the service was good for the two visits we made - both friendly and stopping by often to check in. Worth checking out.

Super crowded. Nice outside seating and bar. Location location location

1. The kid that was probably kicked out of his frat house had 2 people at the outside bar. This being to many people for him to handle, it took him 10 minutes to make a Greeny and pour a light beer. $12 -1* 2. The Greeny was wrong. It is concocted with a powder that gives it its name. They were out of the powder and failed to tell us this. -1* 3. We found our own spot outside at one of the tables on the grass. Our server was pleasant but by no means present. 4. We ordered peel-n-eat shrimp and fish tacos. The shrimp was generic and overpriced. The fish tacos were mediocre and fell apart through the corn tortillas. $24 -1* 5. We shared these dishes.....so come on and give me an extra plate. 6. Due to my boyfriends birthday that day, we asked for a bday shot. Once again our server was pleasant but gave him a complimentary shot. Or Patron +1*

My "Go-To" Place! Whenever we are not sure where to go out to eat, we choose Ernie's. The food and atmosphere are excellent. The new outdoor patio with live music is a great addition this year! Keep it going and we will keep coming!
